About RSVP

RSVP (Retired Senior Volunteer Program) has been serving communities of Denton County since 1973.  What started out as 15 volunteers serving 2 volunteer sites has turned into more than 1,200 volunteers serving at 192 volunteer sites.

RSVP's mission is to "identify and address issues impacting communities of Denton County and through volunteer service enhance the lives of senior volunteers as well as those they serve".  RSVP volunteers not only invest their time and experience helping non-profit agencies sustain operations and service delivery, but they can also be found serving clients directly through RSVP driven programs such as Seniors for Childhood Immunization (SCI), Rockin' Readers, West Nile Virus Education, Senior Medicare Patrol and Senior Environmental Corps.

SCI volunteers visit new mothers at all four Denton County hospitals to enroll them in a free reminder service and to leave them information on how to make sure their child is properly immunized against disease.  New moms are then sent reminders of immunization due dates prior to their baby's 2,4,6 and 12 month birthdays.

Rockin' Reader volunteers visit a Pre-K, Kindergarden or 1st grade class once a week to share an intergenerational appreciation of reading.  West Nile Virus volunteers educate seniors on how they can mosquito guard their homes and protect themselves against West Nile Virus infection.  Senior Environmental Corps volunteers educate Denton and Lewisville I.S.D. students on environmental awareness and protection.  Senior Medicare Patrol volunteers educate seniors how to look for and detect Medicare fraud and how to report it.

RSVP volunteers greatly need your support to sustain and expand programs that address identified community needs, such as the one's listed above.  By supporting the RSVP Golf Classic, you're supporting the efforts of Denton County's largest force of volunteers 1,200 + strong.
